Is Beano Vegan?

Is Beano Vegan?
The answer: NO

Beano is one of the remedies that you might be prescribed to ease the growing pain that sometimes results from changing to a vegetarian or vegan diet. Beano is a non-vegan natural enzyme that breaks down the complex carbohydrates found in much food that we consume. This product, therefore, makes it easier for digestion hence reduces gas.

Don’t you think that it is contradictory when a non-vegan treatment is used to treat a condition caused by vegan lifestyle?

The excruciating pain in the abdomen is caused by consumption of a high amount of fiber. As much as the fiber is good for the body, the unpleasant odor and pain is the result of the body breaking down protein in the food and releasing sulfur in the stomach. Some of the foods vegans eat that causes gas include broccoli, cabbage, beans, and potatoes among many other.

Beano is not vegan as it contains gelatin as part of its ingredients. Gelatin is an animal product that is made from skin, bones, and connective tissues of animals such as domesticated cattle, chicken, pigs, and fish. Bean-zyme (check on Amazon) is the vegan version for Beano, as it does not contain any of the animal derivative or cruelty.
