Are Waffles Vegan?

Are Waffles Vegan?
The answer: Mostly NO

Waffles are one of those few foods that you are sure to come across anywhere in the world. A simple snack which you can hop into just any store and pick from the wide variety on the shelves or simply spare some few minutes to fix for yourself at home.

I love waffles because you can prepare them differently every day and never really exhaust all the myriad recipes attached to them. If you are the creative type, then go ahead and charm your taste buds with every sweetness, and flavor that you can possibly use in preparing them.

Most waffles are not vegan

As far as this statement may be true, the truth in it entirely depends on you. Most waffles found on ‘frozen food’ isles in stores and in food joints are not be vegan because they will almost certainly contain milk, eggs, or both. However, there is always an opportunity to do it yourself if you are looking for that 100% vegan assurance.

At home, you can use many alternative ingredients in place of eggs and milk. For instance:

  • Rice milk
  • Coconut milk
  • Almond milk
  • Soy milk
  • Ener-G Egg Replacer
  • Flax seed
  • Silken Tofu
  • Banana

If you are the ardent eat-out fan, there is no harm in asking your favorite food joint to specially prepare for you vegan waffles, as their ingredients are always easily available.
